Pictures
of Stonehenge England UK These images show the area around Stonehenge, a beautiful region of England that has a mystic atmosphere best captured at dawn. The images below were shot a few days after the Summer Solstice, when the masses of police and party-goers have moved on and the huge solstice traffic queues on the A303 seem a distant memory. This is when the real magic of Stonehenge comes to the fore and the ancient beauty begins to reveal itself in the rising sun and the low mists. The summer solstice itself is an amazing event, with people from all backgrounds. The unfortunate side of it is that a strange combative atmosphere develops: the travellers or party-goers versus English Heritage, ie The Establishment. Despite being a recognised member of the press, even I felt quite uneasy - a bit like being in a crowd at a football match. I did sense that the police seemed to expect troublemakers, whereas the public seemed to expect order; wierd eh?! EH seem extremely nervous about letting the modern "hippies" onto the site, despite it being for only one day in a year. Maybe if they were more confident about themselves, their anxieties would disappear. More images of England at www.capturedsight.co.uk - Copyright Notice England home page - Next Gallery >>
